Every social network is different and each has its own specifics, particularly user behaviour. This includes favourite times to post and engage with content. Knowing how consumers use the different sites could be of great use to businesses, so let us take a look at some facts and figures regarding the best times to post content.
According to business marketing and strategy website Business2Community, the best time to post your updates on Facebook is in the afternoon, between 1pm and 4pm. This same timeframe is best for reaching users on Twitter and Pinterest.
However Google+ users have a very different behavioural pattern, as they spend most time on the site between 9am and 11am. LinkedIn users can be reached in the early morning, between 7am and 9am, and after working hours from 5pm to 6pm.
Weekdays are generally the best days to post updates, the information portal suggests, however there are slight variations. Facebook updates are most effective on Wednesdays, while Twitter users can be easily reached between Monday and Thursday. Posting on LinkedIn is recommended on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Pinterest was the only major social networking site where users are most active at the weekend, specifically Saturdays. Typically, users of Facebook and Twitter are the least active over the weekend, so brands should avoid posting updates on a Saturday or Sunday, Business2Community said.
