Are you a desktop or phone user when it comes to checking Facebook?
Despite concerns that interest in Facebook is waning, statistics prove that the social network´s population is still growing globally. And it´s been reported that more than one billion people are now accessing Facebook from their mobile devices on a monthly basis, according to data released by the social channel themselves. In its first quarter report, Facebook announced that the number of mobile monthly active users rose more than a third year-on-year, reaching 1.01 billion.
Similarly, the number of mobile users accessing the site daily also went up to 609 million. This marks an even higher increase of 43%, compared to the same period last year. Between mobile and desktop, the total number of monthly active users reached 1.28 billion, up 15% year-on-year, whereas in March, the average daily number of active users stood at 802 million, an increase of 21%, the report reveals.
Meanwhile, figures on advertising revenue are among the highlights of the report. In the first quarter of the year, Facebook generated $2.27 billion – a whopping 82% rise on the same period last year. Overall revenue for the period came in at $2.50 billion, an increase of 72% year-on-year.
Commenting on the report, Facebook founder and chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg defined the social network´s business as “strong and growing”, and added that the results from the first quarter set a great start for the year ahead. He stated that the company had made some “long term bets” on its future and is now in a perfect position to continue pursuing its mission.
