Q Content is happy to announce that our collaboration with RefYouMe, a non-profit organisation that organises regular volunteering trips to refugee camps in Calais, has been honoured with the Bronze in the Judges’ Award, Under £100,000 category at the Smiley Charity Film Awards 2024.
Our team worked closely with RefYouMe to create an inspiring documentary-style video that showcases the hands-on support provided by volunteers and encourages more people to join the cause. RefYouMe had been struggling to recruit volunteers who were unsure about what the experience would entail. Emma Naysmith, Lead Volunteer at RefYouMe, stated, “We wanted to create an authentic look into our trips to inspire more people to join us. Our volunteers are the heart of our community.”
To address these reservations, we produced a compelling video that followed Jacqui, a volunteer through a typical RefYouMe trip. Our organic filming style captured Jacqui actively contributing in various ways, from visiting camps and sorting donations to chopping vegetables for the community kitchen. The video aimed to demonstrate that all volunteers, regardless of their skills or background, can make a significant impact.
We are thrilled that our video’s powerful message and authentic portrayal of the volunteering experience not only earned recognition at the Smiley Charity Film Awards but also received a nomination at the MPB Geographical Better World Video Awards, further highlighting its impact and quality.
More importantly, the video succeeded in its primary goal of inspiring action. Since its launch across RefYouMe’s digital platforms, the inspirational piece has driven a surge in trip sign-ups, enabling more hands to carry on the vital work underway in Calais.
Emma added: “We are incredibly proud and humbled to have received the Bronze in the Judges’ Award, Under £100,000 category at the Smiley Charity Film Awards 2024. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, as well as the talented team at Q Content who helped us bring our story to life. The award not only validates our efforts but also shines a light on the importance of the work we do in Calais. We hope that this recognition will inspire even more people to join us in making a difference in the lives of refugees.”
At Q Content, we are passionate about creating content that drives positive change. In this case, video proved to be the most powerful tool for RefYouMe to tell their story and inspire people to make a difference. We are honoured to have played a role in helping RefYouMe recruit more volunteers and continue their vital work supporting refugees in Calais.
